Brownies ARE
Gorgeous and Golden

On Saturday 24th April 2010 Girlguiding Jersey held a Gorgeous & Golden afternoon at Samares Manor for Brownies, which approximately two hundred Brownies together with their leaders attended.

During the afternoon all of the Brownies took part in seven activity areas as follows:

Craft Activity – Making Crowns /Bag Dangles
Gold Mining / Panning for Gold – Looking for Gold Pieces in a paddling pool full of sand.
Teddy Bear Hunt –  Brownies have to look for the names of the Bears in the herb garden..
The Chocolate Game – Roll a six, dress up and try to get some chocolate with a knife and a fork before someone else throws a six!
The Golden Games - Organised by a party of Guides.
Golden Treasure Hunt - A Brownie quiz along a trail
Snacks – A chance to have a drink and a snack including a Golden Cookie

The Lieutenant Governor, General Andrew Ridgeway and Mrs Valerie Ridgeway who is the Island patron of Girlguiding Jersey visited during the afternoon and toured all of the activity areas with the Island Commissioner Hilary Hardy.
 
At the end of the afternoon a draw was made to find the five winners of  the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory 5 Golden Tickets, where each winner received  a Golden Teddy Bear.

There was also a presentation to the winner of the Teddy Bear Hunt and the award for the
"Oldest Shiniest 2p Coins" collected by  a Brownie Unit

The 2p coins collected in respect of the  "Oldest Shiniest 2p Coins"  competition amounted
to £50 and were donated to the Guide Dogs for the Blind.
