Members of Girlguiding Jersey assembled at D’Auvergne School on Monday 22nd February to celebrate World Thinking Day. The theme of this years Centenary Thinking Day was “One World One Beat”.
Each unit represented a different country and girls wore badges or logos in respect of their nominated country. Some of the Countries represented were: Austria, Belgium, Barbados, Canada, Czech Republic, Iceland, India Japan, Kenya, Malta, Mexico, New Zealand, Poland, Sweden, Sri Lanka ,Turkey and Malaysia.
Members started the evening by taking part in a “Lucky in Red” activity which originated from China. The Girls each made a small red envelope and placed a lucky gold coin in it. The envelope was then exchanged with another girl as a sign of friendship.
Members then took part in a programme of Country dancing which was led by Brenda and Liz. This was followed by everyone singing the One World One Beat song that was specially written for South West Region by Colin Martin.
Sue Type from Jersey Pottery then presented Centenary bowls made by Jersey Pottery to representatives of Rainbows, Brownies and Guides. Centenary bowls were then handed to all the other members as they left the event.
