Royal Visit Badge
Exclusive to Jersey
Around five hundred members of Girlguiding Jersey descended on Samares Manor  on the afternoon of  Tuesday 29th June for a visit by their Royal Highnesses The Earl & Countess of Wessex. The theme of the afternoon was tea and the event was called a Cen”TEA”nary Party.

The  Rainbows activities involved them taking part in an interactive story of The Tiger who came to Tea and completing a shopping relay race in teams and a craft activity of decorating wooden tea spoons.

The Brownies each painted their own individual tea mug, made paper fans and competed in teams in a tea tray relay race and sugar cube throwing and making the highest sugar cube tower competitions.

The Guides were set a challenge in teams of designing and building a tea table which could be either the longest or tallest but must be able to support the weight of a full teapot. There was also a party of Guides who will be attending the Centenary Camp at Harewood House in  August who had  a display of  the activities that will be available to them at the camp which also showed  the  Royal link between Harewood House and the role of the President of Girlguiding.

Girls from the Senior Section completed a montage in the shape of 100 which comprised of photographs of each member that attended the afternoon.

The Earl and Countess visited each of the sections and spoke to a lot of the girls taking part in the various activities.

After visiting all of the sections the Countess then presented Baden-Powell awards to Eloise Hamon, Sophie Cross and Mary Townsend.

The Royal party were then given three cheers and were waved off  by everyone as they drove away from the manor.
